I’m a “racist” designer.

And my job is to help you steal two seconds from a person of your choice.

How do you pick a bottle of wine?

By price? Year? Vineyard? Occasion? Those are all available on the label. But wait, you’re choosing a bottle of wine only by the way it looks. Not how it actually tastes. That’s so wrong! It’s not fair to the poor wine! If you do the same with people, you’re so racist!

How about you listen to a recommendation from a friend? But then, you’re not giving other wines a fair chance either. You should give every wine a sip at least!

Sure, things and people are not the same. But, we are all guilty of being selective consumers for a good reason: not enough time.

My job as a designer is to first embrace the truth about our racist, selective nature and then reframe it in a way that your eyes and your customers’ eyes lock in for two seconds across the room.

When was the last time that you gave full permission to your eyes to covet someone for two seconds straight? And when was the last time that a special someone returned your look for two seconds uninterrupted? Yes, two seconds is a short time for you, but it is a lifetime of difference for your customer.

I cannot tell your entire story for you. That’s your job and you’re the best. But what I can do is to help you stop the time for two seconds.

You and your customer.

Two of you.

Two seconds.

For you.

One-word answer for you! “Unlimited design” OK, these are two words, but hey, I’m a designer. Our life is not an exact science. Learn to live with the ambiguity and embrace the change! Lol

What’s good design or bad design? The answer is completely irrelevant. It doesn’t matter to me at least. To whom it matters then? To the owner of the design, of course. Customers are out of the
